The importance of peer reviewing, and my strengths and weaknesses.
Why is peer review so important?
In order for a writer to get their message across in an effective manner someone would have to read their work to help them move forward. Without someone reading your work you are unable to determine if you can keep a reader reeled into your work. Also, when someone is reviewing your work you can also get feedback to help enhance your writing.
My personal struggle with peer review
I feel that I am unable to accurately review someone's work because I have developed an irrational fear of saying something that may be wrong, and if I were to say something wrong it would make me feel inferior to the person whose work I am reviewing. What I mean by this is that I lack the confidence to say something meaningful because I am scared of looking less intelligent. Which might sound crazy, but this is something I have struggled with in the past. Because of this fear I usually find myself saying something meaningless that would not help my peer in their editing process.
My strengths in peer reviewing
When I do feel comfortable enough with my peer I tend to be really honest. If my peer is writing about something that I am knowledgeable I will inform them if I find any wrong information and help correct them. Also, I will help my peer if I find that their work is not keeping me reeled in and give them suggestions on what I think they can do to keep me hooked.
